Prime Calendar vs Skylight

Skylight sells a touchscreen calendar, with a Plus subscription to go with it. Prime Calendar is software. It turns a tablet, an old laptop or a smart TV into the family screen, and one Family plan covers up to 8 of them.

Where Prime Calendar makes more sense

You already have a screen, or you want more than one: kitchen, hallway, kids' room, each with its own layout. Chores rotate between people and keep streaks, and Kid Mode needs a grown-up's PIN to leave. The adults get a full calendar too, with tasks, automation and Google or Microsoft sync in the same account.

Setting up a screen

  1. Open app.primecal.eu/device in the browser of the screen you want to use. It shows a short code.
  2. On your phone, go to Screens, then Devices, then Pair a device, and type the code.
  3. Pick a layout and add what you want on it: the calendar, routine buttons, chore streaks.

Where Skylight is the better pick

If nobody at home wants to set anything up, a device built for one job is the easier choice. Skylight also keeps tasks, custom lists and profiles free, without Plus.

Do I need to buy a screen?

No. Anything with a browser works. If you'd be buying one anyway, put its price into the cost calculator and compare again.

Start on Free with one screen. Family adds more screens and room for 5 people.
